Mission and vision
At Rock U, everything we do is through the lens of our mission and our values:
Mission: to bring the joy of music to all who seek it, while creating a place for students, parents, and teachers to find community through that shared passion.
Vision: We’ll be guided by our passion for music, and commitment to building fulfilling relationships with our students, teachers, and community.
Just like songwriting, the concept of Rock U all started with an idea. And just like songwriting, that idea hit me late at night, while trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grow up (as a 37 year old).
What if I could create a place that teaches people how to become the musician they always wanted to be in a way that THEY want to learn? Music can be intimidating. If you are a parent walking into a guitar shop picking out your kids very first guitar, you know what I’m talking about. But music should be the least intimidating thing out there. Music is about creativity, expression, confidence, passion, and all of those other feelings you get when you lose yourself in your favorite song. No barriers. No intimidation.
As a musician myself, I know the indescribable joy and lifechanging experiences music can provide. I’ve been able to sing everywhere from Carnegie Hall in New York to Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA. I’ve performed everywhere from coffee houses, to the White House, to Dick Clark’s house in Malibu. Experiences that I will never forget, with people I will never forget, all thanks to music. I created Rock U so everyone else has the opportunity to create and fulfill their own meaningful experiences through music.
